The development story behind never giving up on “Sparkle”

When creating a lip product with glitter, I had decided never to use plastic materials, so I gathered various bioglitter and other non-plastic ingredients.
The female product developer who is working on developing Kiraboshi also researched many non-plastic glitter materials by visiting various trade shows and contacting various manufacturers.
I have always liked very sparkly eyeshadow.
I'm already a certain age (54), so I can't go for the intense, flashy look of a young girl, but I have always wanted to sparkle elegantly.
I also gathered highly biodegradable bioglitter, but when I actually added it, it created a glossy finish, while the sparkle I was looking for was difficult to achieve.
(At the company, we always called it a subtle shimmer.)
Glitter comes in various sizes, and the finer it is, the glossier the finish becomes.
Bioglitter did not provide enough sparkle, so the only way to create the subtle shimmer I wanted was to add different, larger glitter particles.
While the developer was attempting a trial using a sparkly glitter that was not bioglitter, she suddenly came to me with the prototype and said, “It smells.”
For the prototype, we used a commercial microwave to melt the ingredients and bring them to a temperature at which they could be filled.
When we added and melted the non-plastic glitter ingredients, the microwave began crackling, and the room quickly filled with a strong odor.
Of course—that makes sense. Gold and silver cannot be put in a microwave.
We thought, “I guess we need to buy this too,” and once again started by purchasing all the necessary experimental equipment.
